My Visits: Tower Bridge (London)
In August of 2025, I became one of tens of thousands of visitors to the Grade I listed Tower Bridge that month. I was in London to visit various installations of Street Lighting, but also did visit some London landmarks. The iconic bridge was built between 1886-1894. Along Tower Bridge Road are countless (bespoke?) heritage lanterns. These are believed to run SON lamps, going off images of Tower Bridge at night.
From the bridge, HMS Belfast was visible, sitting still on the river (not like it could go anywhere nowadays!)
The bridge was far too busy to take many photos on, so I snapped a couple of photos once I'd reached the other side. The lantern in the foreground is a bespoke DW Windsor Globe, similar to the Cradle or Polar luminaires.
A floating barge was spotted not far up the Thames, and I couldn't help but relate to it's statement about eating rubbish. After all, I'd just bought an ice cream from a van parked up about two minutes away!
