My Visits: Derby Station
While waiting for my departing train on the 29th April 2025, a British Rail class 97(302) arrived at the opposite platform. From the information I could find online, the Class 97 is a refurbished Class 37. It has been re-designated to Network Rail. Despite the fact it stopped at the platform, a "This train does not stop here" announcement played - likely as it wasn't taking on passengers. It remained there for at least ten minutes until my departing Class 170 came rattling down the tracks.
A HST (43257) was spotted parked in a side track, in Sperry Rail Depot.
I also managed to capture this view of the station in the distance.
A second visit occurred on 29th June 2025, where I stopped at Derby on my way to Nottingham, and then again on my way back home. Guess what pulled into the station...
...Three class 37 locomotives, all joined together! Here we have 37057, 37175 and 37219.
Once my train arrived, I sat next to the window to get a good view of the nearby depot as I went past.
