Thank you to AgentHalogen_87 for this lantern. It has had quite the rough life; it was situated in an area which left it prone to vandalism, and thus it was smashed to bits! The bowl was completely missing, the old lamp was also destroyed (a new one was fitted later while it was in service) and the canopy has a few cracks and holes. Despite all this damage, the lantern still works!
Both the canopy and insides of the lantern were the grubbiest I've ever seen one of these. Even after a considerable scrub, muck is still ingrained into the GRP.
A Zodion SS4ED cell is positioned atop the canopy.
The photocell is quite an old example, being almost 21 years old (dated 09/2004).
Ordinarily, undoing the two bulky clips on the side of the lantern would be required to open it, but in this case, such an undertaking isn't required. The identification-sticker has been burned to a crisp, but it does reveal that this is an Industria example.
The lamp it came with is intact, but its predecessor certainly wasn't! Notice specks of rust beginning to compromise the gear-tray, it having been exposed directly to the elements for years.
The gear follows a similar trend of "just trying to get by". Ordinarilly, one of these ballasts is unlikely to see this much rust, as seen in a few of my other 2600 examples.
A faint set of wiring instructions is present on one side of the tray.
The ignitor is a replacement, as the other one seems to have exploded or caught fire. Notice the hardened goop on the tray from the last one!
The capacitor is similarly battle-scarred.
A promise was made to keep this lantern entirely original, but the lantern can now rest, owning decades of service under it's belt, and having completely dodged it's scrapping.
