This is one of the largest lanterns in the collection. It came NOS from eBay, and I originally thought I'd bought the smaller SRS421 version... until it arrived! This example runs a 250W SON-T lamp, and is fitted with an electronic driver instead of a magnetic gear. Below is a familiar angle from underneath the lantern, showcasing the egg-shaped base. The SON-T lamp is one of my own, and was not supplied with the lantern.
The lantern is quite heavy, with it's 250W driver and full aluminium construction. The radio-node can be seen protruding from the canopy.
The canopy is virtually spotless, with only the odd bump and scrape from being in storage for a decade.
The maker's mark is printed onto the flat-glass.
The canopy is hinged at the spigot, with a single bolt (which had to be replaced due to it rounding!) at the front of the lantern.
The gear-tray is quite unusual in this lantern, and it's more of a gear "box". It's held in by two plastic locks which I doubt the integrity of over long periods of time in service.
The lamp-holder, driver, and radio-controls can then all be removed in one swift motion. I assume this is so faulty gear-trays can be swapped almost instantaneously for servicing.
The lantern lit for the first time:
