Siemens Court Lantern Installations

The Siemens Court was the second largest lantern in the Kuwait range, having been designed in the ~1950s to run three 4ft 40W MCF/A fluorescent tubes. Nowadays these lights are nearly extinct, with only a few being left as installations and the rest residing in collections.

I discovered this lone survivor one afternoon while looking at Google Maps, originally spotting it from here. I just had to find a better angle of it. As it turns out, it is surprisingly easy to get to by going into Salop Music Centre car park.

The lantern is in excellent condition overall, and I do hope that it can be rescued.

At the front of the lantern is the locking screw. The bowl would hinge towards the column when this was undone.

Siemens Ediswan is cast into the spigot section.

As I understand, there were lots more of these here originally, and most if not all were rescued into collections.
