Phosco P106 Lantern Installations

With thanks to BenSOX135 for identifying these lanterns. The Phosco P106 is incredibly similar in design to the P107, but a lot rarer. It features a hinged canopy and clip which can be identified by a ring underneath the canopy. The support rods are also at an angle.

The P106 can be sighted in Two Gates, Tamworth. The ones located here run both 26W SOX-E and 35W SOX. They are nearly all fitted with Zodion SS6 photocells. The first example I visited on my May 2024 trip was situated on Tutbury. It isn't so easy to see through. Looks like it's bowl has had some UV yellowing in it's years exposed to the elements! It's actually also mounted the wrong way, as the "Across Road" text faces away from the road, but I don't think it really makes a significant difference. The first image was taken in January 2024, with the following two images being taken on my May trip.

The lamp-holder in it has fallen loose completely! It seems to be a reoccurring theme with the P106.

These pictures were taken in 2026 following the discovery that these installations were down for replacements. Many columns already had numbers spray painted on the ground.

Next I took a turn down Sudeley, with column T1 sporting a (failed) P106.

There is also a P106 located atop column T1 on Slingsby. Yet again the refractor is falling off.

Column T3 of Belvoir showcases the wide-canopied version of the lantern. Nonetheless, the two here are outliers, given that all of the other CU Phosco P106s (and P107s) use the smaller canopy.

Dear-oh-dear! The refractor-holder in this one has fallen completely loose and damaged the lamp-holder! This is column T2 on Belvoir.

These next two P106s are located (alongside one P107) on Bamburgh. The cone on this one looks slightly yellowed.

But not as yellowed as the next and final example on this street:
