ELECO HW-505 Lantern Installations

Little is known about the ELECO HW-505 lantern. Installations are rare and information can be difficult to find. They are believed by Simon Cornwell to have appeared in the late 1940s-early 1950s. The lanterns were originally designed for use with 45W-60W SOX lamps (the precursor to 35W SOX). They could either be remote or integral geared.

An example of one of these is still extant on a pathway at the end of The Garth. Thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of this lantern.

The lantern is in very good condition. The bowl is complete - but look closely!

A rather bodged retrofit has been performed. It looks like a regular pendant lamp-holder (the same as a house fitting) has been fitted inside with a cheap LED lamp. The lantern is also operated via a minicell drilled into the canopy.
