Wardle Arran Lantern Installations
These lanterns were also sold as the Aldwych by Metropolitan Vickers. The Wardle Arran was an enclosed-type lantern for 80W-125W MBF/U or MB/U, or 60W-200W GLS lamps. They were designed for group "B" lighting. The optic system consisted of a dome-refractor, a reflective white plate and a clear teardrop-shaped bowl.
Nottingham
St Peter's Church Walk is home to two top-entry fittings. One, an ELECO Royston for 300W-500W GLS lamps, and the other, a Wardle Arran. I'm not sure where the supply cable on this example terminates. On the Royston, a Wardle cut-out box is present, so this may also have had one.
Nowadays, only the metal parts of the lantern remain, any and all glass is long-gone, minus the skeleton of what appears to be a GLS lamp.
Being exposed for so long has resulted in heavy corrosion to the internals.
