Metcraft Victoria Lantern Installations

Metcraft's Victoria has been on the market for a while, and in those decades has seen use with lamp-types such as 50W-250W SON, 50W-250W metal halide, 45W-140W CPO-TW, 11W-57W PL, and (most recently) LEDs which can produce between 1000lm-13000lm. Five sizes are available, and the lamp-wattages they can run vary depending on the size.

Crewe

Several Metcraft Victorias running SON-I lamps were present around Victoria Square in Crewe. These had a copper finish, and the ones in the square seemed to no-longer be maintained.

The ones in the worst condition were all located around the appropriately-named Victoria Square. This first one has been smashed to pieces, with all of the panels having some-kind of damage to them. The base of a SON lamp was still present in the lamp-holder.

This was perhaps the worse one of the lot:

The remains of a SON-I lamp were installed inside.

Lichfield

The older version of the Metcraft Victoria can be seen throughout Beacon Park, Lichfield, running a mix of 70W and 100W SON. Most are in good condition, but some have been seen vandalised. This first example is on the footpath connecting Beacon Park to Shaw Lane Car Park.

They continue lining the pathway up to Swan Road. I also photographed some of the other examples along the pathway.

Another example further up the path.

London

These installations are around St. James's Square in London, and they showcase the LED version of the Metcraft Victoria.

The cast-iron columns are much older than the heritage lanterns they now support.

Rugby

Around Rugby are many older lanterns that have stood the test of time. These lanterns in almost all cases now run Philips TrueForce LED lamps, and this Metcraft Victoria along Market Place is no exception!
