G.E.Cs Z9454 was a 90W SOX, 140W SO/H or 140W SOI/H lantern for "A" group roads. Both integral (Z9464) and remote-geared versions were available. The integral-geared version wasn't as common as the Z9454. The Z9454's canopy was constructed from diecast aluminium, and the bowl from acrylic meaning they never yellowed. From this view, the lantern looks quite familiar, as it was fairly common.
The lantern is quite wide (as-seen best from above). The NEMA socket is located towards the rear corner of the canopy.
From below, it's clear as-to-why this lantern is known as the Diamond Bowl (look closely towards each end). What's also apparent is the reason these fixtures rarely lost their bowls. On one side of the lantern is G.E.C's iconic metal clip, with the tough metal hinges located on the other side.
The main feature of the remote lantern is the lamp. This one still has it's original 66W SOX-E lamp installed.
All the wiring is located at the column-end of the lantern.
The identification sticker is located at the street-end.
The lamp is dated December 2020, there are no other date codes throughout the lantern.
