Urbis ZX12 Lantern Installations
The Urbis ZX12 was named as such due to its combination of the ZX1 optic in a ZX2 body. It's unknown why this combination was ever needed, and compared to some other lanterns from the ZX series, they were decently uncommon as anyone needing a ZX1 optic, and a lamp-type up to 150W, would just have purchased the ZX1 (or ZXU1). Only the ZX4 and illusive ZXU21 were rarer.
Tamworth
The Urbis ZX12 lantern can be found occasionally here in Tamworth. These ones were located at the edge of Lichfield Industrial Estate, but have since been replaced.
They share a striking resemblance to the Urbis ZX2. The most notable difference is the smaller bowl and lamp area. This is due to the lantern being designed to accommodate lower wattages of lamp. Not being satisfied with the design, the local birds have taken it upon themselves to repaint the canopy.
This ZX12 is located nearby to the last example. It has a slightly different (deep) plastic bowl fitted.
The bowls are also available in flat-glass form. Examples of the ZX12 with flat glass can be seen next to The Lady Bridge, Tamworth. This one is day-burning!
