SBP LYRA Lantern Installations
Amington, Tamworth
The SBP Lyra lantern is rare here, only one place is known to use them: a private car park just off Sandy Way, Tamworth. They can come in 70W, 100W or 150W SON forms, but these use 70W SON. These are far more common in mainland Europe, especially Italy and France, where they are sold under different names.
The first example has a loose back clip, the canopy is hinged at the front of the lantern to provide access to the gear and lamp compartment for maintenance.
If you look closely at the mounting spigot, you can see a pair of angle adjustment bolts. Because these are used in 70W SON form (and need to light a wide area) these lanterns are as inclined as they can be, at about 20 degrees.
