Coughtrie FS10 Lantern Installations
These common bulkheads were available for side-entry or top-entry, and were sized according to the single GLS lamp they were intended to run. Despite being stylish, they were incredibly simple in structure as they were only designed to house the one lamp.
Burton-upon-Trent
Burton has quite a few of these iconic bulkheads littered about. The first example is pictured above the entrance to Burton Town Hall.
This example is top-entry.
Less than a minute down the road is St.Paul's Church, Burton-upon-Trent (visible in the first image). It has a few Coughtrie FS10s.
This first wellglass fitting is on such a short outreach bracket that it may as well be attached to the wall itself.
The second is installed just above the main entrance.
Crewe
A top-entry example of the FS10 can be sighted attached to the corner of St. Mary's R.C. Church.
The housing has seen some significant degradation to the paintwork, but it is known that these Coughtries are still connected and in use (for now!)
Rugby
On a glimmery late-winter afternoon, this FS10 bulkhead was spotted at the end of Hill Street, attached to a private building.
It's not known whether it is still in use, but the light is in acceptable condition despite some grime on the diffuser.
