WRTL Arc 90 Lantern Installations

The WRTL Arc 90 is the larger version of the WRTL Arc. It was designed for a minimum lamp-wattage of 150W. Due to this, it can most-commonly be sighted along main roads and motorways. With it's distinctive shape, it was one of the most recognizable lanterns on British Roads until the LED replacement schemes (not to be confused with it's smaller cousin, the Arc 80).

Birmingham

Some 150W and 250W Arc 90s light the A38(M) through Birmingham, but as of 2025, their numbers seem to be ticking down. The culprits are visible behind the twin Arc 90s, the ASD Highway Diamond Maxis.

There are two sets of twin-arms here, as a collection of roads grouped together in parallel makes this section eleven lanes wide, with the actual A38(M) being eight of these.

A little further down the A38(M), towards the city centre, are some single-arm columns with a mix of Arc 80s and Arc 90s, with most being the latter. This first one was missing it's door, allowing the Charles Endirect cut-out to be seen within.

An example fitted with a highways camera was sighted next.

Not far down the road was another highways camera. This one, too, has lost it's inspection door, which is located on the ground below. It looks to have fallen off in the past, given the tape on it.

A Tofco cut-out is fitted, featuring one breaker switch for the lantern, and one for the camera. This cut out dates to December 2012.

The installations continue down the road:
