Urbis Large Grey Wornum Lantern Installations

This page features Urbis' take on the Large Grey Wornum lantern for London. These were noticeably more angular than the DW Windsor examples. They are believed to have been designed to run HID lamps such as high-pressure sodium, metal halide. This version is the single-lamp Wornum, but an even-larger twin-lamp version was also sold.

London

Along Derby Gate in the City of Westminster is one of the very few examples of the Urbis Large Grey Wornum that has not been retrofitted. I believe this runs either a CPO-TW or CDM-T lamp. It's inaccessibility could be the reason it remains using its original lamp-type, but it could equally now be owned by whoever oversees the private lane.

A more familiar site are these Large Grey Wornums which line Waterloo Place. At first, nothing seems amiss...

...But these have Indo retrofits inside. I wrote as if this was unusual around here, but in fact most Wornums have these retrofits in.
