Urbis Ampera Maxi Lantern Installations
This is the largest lantern from Urbis' Ampera range. It is noticeably larger than the Ampera Midi. Their durability is showcased in their ingress-protection rating of IP66, and impact-resistance of IK09. They were designed to "replace luminaires fitted with mercury vapour, high-pressure sodium, metal halide and
other HID lamps."
Loughborough
The Ampera is used in great numbers throughout Loughborough, including the large Maxi. The first Ampera Maxis to be photographed were this set which are installed along the A6004.
A series of post-top Ampera Maxis are mounted at 10m along The Rushes. Column 47 is pictured below:
A rather sorry-looking Ampera Maxi is located on Biggin Street. It appears to have gone wonky, a fate which is fairly common with the Ampera. Hilariously, this example just happens to be fitted with a glare shield, which is now certainly redundant, and may just aid in projecting light into the window behind.
