Thorn Riviera 1 Lantern Installations

Coming in two sizes, the Riviera is the successor to the Thorn Alpha 2000 lantern, with the Riviera 1 being the smallest of them. They feature a two-part canopy, and a fibreglass base. The size 1 lanterns could run 70W-150W SON lamps, and the spigot allows post-top or side-entry mounting.

A series of Riviera 1s with deep-profile polycarbonate bowls exist along Richard Moon Street. There are six in total. My camera decided it did not want to focus properly, hence the blur in the first few images.

The first column I photographed:

Being GRP, the bases of all of the Riviera 1s have started to shed fibres, which are all-too good at trapping dirt and growing lichen.

The next column is even worse!

...And they keep getting worse! You can see the rear refractor patterns on the bowl much better from this angle, as well as a tubular lamp inside.

While the rest are fitted with anti-bird spikes, this one is fitted with a different anti-bird structure.

The "final" column in the line up (from the direction I walked from), although this one at the entrance to the car park:

Two more Riviera 1s are located nearby to the others, these two are post-top, and are used to light this footpath.

These bowls are much, much, clearer than the other two, possibly made from some sort of acrylic.
