Thorn Gamma 4 Lantern Installations

The Thorn Gamma 4 was a post-top lantern available in two sizes - 90cm in diameter or 120cm in diameter. They carried two or three lamps inside, which for the small version could have been: 2x 500W GLS, 250W-400W MBF/U or SON, 400W MBI/F or MBF/F. For the triple lamp versions: 3x 500W GLS, 250W-400W MBF/U or SON, or 400W MBI/F. For the larger version, the lamp-types could have been: 3x135W SOX, 3x140W-200W SLI/H, 3x250W-400W MBF/U or SON or 3x400W MBI/F.

A car park off Claybrook Drive features two Thorn Gamma Four lanterns. These were likely installed when the car park was built around the late 1970s. The car park may have been installed for the engineering works that existed on this site originally.
