Schréder Axia 2 Lantern Installations
Available in two lengths, the Urbis Axia 2 is a robust LED lantern, advertised at the time as "the most comprehensive and best value LED solution for lighting any road". The housing was made from aluminium, and a polycarbonate lens ensured a high-resistance IK08-IK10 luminaire. They were intended for an installation height between 5m-10m.
London
Some areas of London use the Axia 2 in abundance. One such area is Hammersmith, where they reign supreme on most of the side streets that do not require illumination via heritage lanterns. These installations are along Luxemburg Gardens. These are (at least) the third generation of lanterns on these columns. Street view imagery shows ZX1s installed up until around 2014, when WRTL Arc 80s with flat-glass optics took their place. Now, in 2025, these columns Support the Axia 2s, and have since around 2018.
