Philips SGS254 Lantern Installations
The Philips SGS254 was the largest lantern in the Iridium family, measuring 90cm long, and 41.9cm wide. They were made to run 100W-400W SON-T lamps, 165W MASTER QL, or 210W-315W MASTER CDM-T. These could also often be found running MASTER CityWhite lamps, due to the cross-compatibility with such lamps and SON gears.
Derby
The two sizes of the Iridium can be sighted along Bradshaw Way, where columns with post-top SGS254s, and smaller side-entry SGS252s exist.
Many of the smaller SGS252s have been swapped for OrangeTEK AriaLEDs, but the SGS254s remain, as seen with the following example:
A bowl-less SGS254 was spotted on the subsequent roundabout.
Newcastle-under-Lyme
A set of four SGS254s exist in the central reservation of the A500, with two on each column. notice they are a bit shorter than the other columns, owing to overhead cables. Oddly, there were no more SGS254s here previously, instead these columns were all once fitted with Trafficvisions, even the SGS254s were put in place of SGS306s on taller columns, even though there were still overheads installed at the time.
Stoke-on-Trent
Some Iridiums exist orbiting the roundabout connecting Parkhouse Road West and Parkhouse Road East. These examples feature low-profile glass bowls.
These are the larger SGS254s; this one is from column 3.
