Philips MFB16 Lantern Installations
The Philips MFB16 can trace it's roots back to the 1970s, where it was advertised as the "fluorescent bulkhead luminaire" and a "KombiPak luminaire". They were fitted with two TL 8W/35 lamps, complete with internal control gear, fixing screws, a hex key and cable gland. Their castings were composed from die-cast corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy, with an opal polycarbonate diffuser sealing the luminaire to IP23. Similar designs were sold by Coughtrie, Thorn, and Crompton Lamps among other manufacturers.
London
An elderly MFB-16 bulkhead was spotted above a doorway along Carey Street outside the Royal Courts of Justice. It is unknown if it is still in operation.
