Mazda Modula G Lantern Installations
These lanterns were strikingly similar to the Philips Trafficvision, and like it, they could come in two sizes. The Modula G is the large version (which this page documents) but there was also a small version, known as the Mazda Modula P. The Modula G measured 38cm tall, and 69cm long. They could be fitted with flat-glass or deep bowls, and had an extremely similar opening mechanism and lamp-change mechanism to the Trafficvision.
Birmingham
A large number of Mazda Modula G lanterns exist on a section of the A4040, these ones are flat-glass.
These lanterns remain undrilled for a photocell, but they do utilise them to switch the lanterns both on and off. NEMA cells are positioned on top of the columns' brackets, not the first time I've seen such a setup, but it's certainly on the rarer side!
It's unknown why green lanterns were chosen - perhaps the columns were originally meant to be painted the same colour.

Instead of NEMA cells, this set use radio-nodes. Notice they also have the deeper bowl.
