Gewiss Indy Lantern Installations

The Gewiss Indy was a rare lantern here in the UK. I believe they were introduced in the early - mid 1990s. The Gewiss Indy 1 could run 70W-150W metal halide or high-pressure sodium - whereas the Gewiss Indy 2 could run 150W or 400W MH or HPS. The canopy and optical unit were attached to a hinge for lamp-changes and maintenance, where the spigot and gear area would remain in place. The lanterns could feature a deep bowl, or a cut-off optic with a flat lens.

Birmingham

This Gewiss Indy is responsible for lighting an area around the back of some shops in Fort Parkway Shopping Park. From where I was, I couldn't see any others, but I would imagine there are more.

Tamworth

The Gewiss Indy lantern is a very rare installation in Tamworth. These ones (located on the grounds of the Tamworth M42 services) run 70W SON. They don't appear to have photocells which could mean they are operated from within the building. They may also have a mini cell that cannot be seen from ground-level.
