GEC Z8387 AB Lantern Installations

GEC's Z8387 AB lantern for group-A lighting. The lanterns took three 80W MCF/U fluorescent tubes, and nowadays they are extremely rare, with most having been lost to time. The lanterns were side-entry only but many installations saw them on short outreach brackets.

Tufnol LTD off Wellhead Lane has a few Z8387 ABs wall-mounted on the building. The LED flood in the bottom right confirms these lanterns are out of service, but due to their size they were likely too much of a pain to remove, and were simply left up there as they aren't causing any harm.

A sheltered Z8387 AB is present on the rear of the building. With the building blocking UV radiation from the sun, the lanterns bowl is remarkably clear -you can even see the lamps within!
