GEC Post Top Decorative Lantern Installations
The catalogue number of these lanterns is unknown, but based on the numbering methods in catalogues listed by Simon Cornwell, I would give an educated guess that it is something similar to Z8444, or Z8440. They were advertised as the Post Top Decorative Lantern for Street Lighting. These could run 4x40W MCF tubes, with an opal Perspex diffuser, and the base and hat crafted from copper.

Two post-top decorative lanterns are installed on ornate pillars as a means of lighting the entrance to an industrial estate off Chester Road. They are both painted red to reflect the metal-work they have been installed upon.
The lanterns have been looked after very well by the industrial site, and due to the lack of LED floods or alternative light sources, I'd imagine they are still operational.
The line where the Perspex tube was joined together is clearly visible along one side of the lantern.
The second lantern's position allowed a better shot with the sunlight.
