Coughtrie PW15 Lantern Installations

The Coughtrie PW15 is a globe-like bulkhead for GLS lamps. It made it's debut in the 1960s, where it has seen common domestic use ever since. These bulkheads are still in production (although the newer design is slightly different) and offer a clear diffuser or an opal diffuser.

Birmingham

The Royal Suite off Canterbury Road is home to several abandoned Coughtrie bulkheads. One of these is a PW15 for GLS lamps. This appears to be a newer model.

Loughborough

More newer-design PW15s are present along Town Hall Passage, Loughborough, where a huge mix of wall fittings can be seen. I've never seen so many types of fixture along one place before... In just the picture below (as well as the Coughtries) a Thorn EMI Piazza and a halogen flood can be seen, but there are a plethora more! These PW15s are believed to be privately-owned, and were not employed by the council to light the passage.

Whether the PW15s are still in use is not known, but it appears the floodlight is fed from the same place in the wall.

The second bulkhead is at the other end of the building.
